Entre animation et documentaire, The grand bizarre (filmé sur six continents) entraîne le spectateur dans un voyage des textiles qui s’adaptent à chaque lieu où ils se posent. Prônant une esthétique kaléidoscopique, son travail met en valeur, depuis quelques films et vidéos déjà, sa collection de tissus sous forme d’images animées et paysagères. L’artiste Jodie Mack propose un livret d’archives picturales en éliminant tout terme technique et en laissant la poésie visuelle défiler dans des mises en scènes parfois absurdes. Ces pièces manufacturées soulignent les échanges qu’opère la mondialisation (et ses problématiques écologiques) au travers également d’un travail sonore qui invoque parfois le son de machines à coudre industrielles. C’est une mise en avant du motif textile, cet élément répété à l’infini, mis en boucle, accentuant l’expérience du travail, de l’aliénation, en relation avec le langage et son usage dans l’espace quotidien et l’économie mondiale entre ses composants (le fil) et ses systèmes (le textile).

Between animation and documentary, The grand bizarre (filmed on six continents) takes the viewer on a journey of textiles that adapt to each place where they land. Advocating a kaleidoscopic aesthetic, her work has for a few films and videos already been showcasing her collection of fabrics in the form of animated and landscape images. The artist Jodie Mack offers a pictorial archive booklet eliminating any technical terms and letting visual poetry goes on stagings that sometimes seem rather absurd. These manufactured pieces highlight the exchanges that globalization operates (and its ecological issues) also through sound work that sometimes invokes the sound of industrial sewing machines. It is a highlighting of the textile pattern, this element repeated endlessly and looped, accentuating the experience of work, of alienation, in relation to language as well as its use in everyday space and the world economy between its components (yarn) and its systems (textiles).
