  • English version

« During the lockdown, we were in a black hole, no sound, no laugh, no touch, we were pissed off [expression in French used as a literal translation to the shape of the balls the artist is wearing in the performance]. So when we were able to go out, I put my thousand textile balls end to end and I dressed in to leave my studio. It was heavy and at the same time warm, soft, shimmering, almost sparkling. I was dressed like a prince of the tribes, I walked with majesty letting my long train shuck a few balls on the sidewalk. I move slowly and solemnly as if I were carrying all the fears, all the silences, all the prohibitions of this unprecedented moment. I walk, I flicker, I walk again, I move away then little by little I collapse in a big puddle on the sidewalk. Dazed by the lockdown, passers-by seem blind. It is a silent and ephemeral action like a cry of joy and despair at the same time. A disguise, yes, but a solemn one that says a lot about the general indifference. » Marie-José PILLET
