This project grew out of Crowâs interest in celebrating the âmajesty, strength and energy of large textile works, specifically large quilts.â While the exhibitorsâ collective use of rich, solid colours, improvisational piecing and intricate machine quilting are all at the service of pure abstract design, each artist maintains a strong individual identity in this new show.
Color Improvisations 2 premiered at the Museum Tuch und Technik in Germany in 2016, and has subsequently been shown in Spain, Switzerland and France. A select number of works will also be presented at the Susquehanna Art Museum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, but for now, this is the exhibitionâs first North American, and only Canadian venue.
