Dans Bogen, Roman Signer signe une « sculpture d’action » à l’aide de matériaux simples, un long bandeau textile emporté par un feu d’artifice. Les propriétés légères du textile et sa souplesse lui donnent une forme éphémère et évolutive dans le ciel que l’on peut tracer indéfiniment grâce à cette capture vidéo. La chute lente étire et ralenti le temps qui nous plonge dans la contemplation d’un textile en flottaison. Figure proche d’un cerf-volant, la mécanique est ici exagérée par le recourt d’un élément en feu. Ce non-évènement lui donne également un ton ridicule par la performance qui tombe à plat quelques mètres plus loin en décalage avec nos attentes stimulées au départ. Ce ton absurde est d’autant plus appuyé que l’artiste utilise une bande de textile rouge, couleur signalant souvent le danger et l’alerte. Artiste de l’expérience, Roman Signer travaille sur les lois physiques des objets du quotidien dans leur champ de gravité, pour attirer le regard sur l’à peine visible.

In Bogen, Roman Signer signs an « action sculpture » using simple materials, a long textile band carried away by a firework. The light properties of the textile and its flexibility give it an ephemeral and evolving shape in the sky that can be traced indefinitely thanks to this video capture. The slow fall stretches and slows down the time that plunges us into the contemplation of a floating textile. Figure close to a kite, the mechanics here are exaggerated by the use of a burning element. This non-event also gives it a ridiculous tone by the performance which falls flat a few meters further out of step with our expectations stimulated at the start. This absurd tone is all the more pronounced because the artist uses a strip of red fabric, a color often signaling danger and alert. Experimental artist Roman Signer works on the physical laws of everyday objects in their field of gravity, to draw the eye to the barely visible.
